Plano, TX is located north of the George Bush Frwy. and between the North Dallas Tollway and Central Expwy. north of Dallas. This city of over 250,000 was named the best place to live in the Western United States by CNN Money magazine in 2005. In 2006, Plano was selected the 11th best place to live in the United States by CNN Money magazine. Plano was declared “Most Affluent City” in 2008 by the United States Census Bureau.

Things to Do in Plano

Plano is known for its excellent school district, affluent residents, and the city is home to many corporate headquarters such as Toyota, J.C. Penney, Liberty Mutual, and Frito Lay to name a few. Some of the most expensive homes in the Dallas area are located in the Willow Bend area and Shoal Creek area in Plano. Accessibility to freeways make Plano a popular suburb for downtown commuters.

Plano offers a variety of activities for the entire family. For example, the ArtCentre of Plano offers a venue for plays, vocal performances and an art gallery. For the freshest produce, you can visit the farmer’s market at Fairview Farms. And, of course, the big city delights of Dallas are a short trip away.

Education

Plano has six high schools (9th and 10th) and three senior high schools (11th-12th). In 2012, all three of the Plano Independent School District’s senior high schools were listed in the top 250 of Newsweek’s list of 1,000 to high schools in America. The district produces high SAT and ACT test scores, and National Merit Finalists.
